Barbara Heriford had a major role in the creation of Two Rivers Heritage Museum.
Barbara E. Heriford grew up in Camas, graduated from Camas High School and worked at Pendleton Woolen Mill until retirement.
Barbara possessed a love of antiques, particularly dolls. She and her Mother traveled Oregon and Washington visiting doll shows and antique shops, purchasing items on “layaway”, and building a large collection with the goal to one day own a shop of dolls, antiques and toys.
When Barbara passed away in 1991, her Mother donated most of the collection to the Camas-Washougal Historical Society. While some of the non-museum quality items were publicly sold to raise funds to maintain the collection, the remaining donation was still vast and resulted in the need for additional display and storage space, which prompted the Society’s search for property that became the current Museum.
Barbara’s collection lives on today at the Two Rivers Heritage Museum.
